Registration for the Steampunk Fashion Show competition must be completed online at
www.steampunknz.co.nz/fashionshow and the registration fees paid by 30 April 2013.

Registration fees are:
Steampunk Fashion Show $60 per garment. 1 entry form per garment
includes pass backstage for model and designer. No front of house access for the show.
Some refreshments provided in green room.
Light lunch will be provided on Sunday 2nd June 2013

1. Entrants must provide their own models.
   2. Entrants may enter as many pieces as they wish in any category.
   3. Entrants are responsible for any expenses incurred in the creation of pieces for the competition.
   4. Entrants are responsible for all costs relating to travel to and from Oamaru, travel to and from the events, and accommodation.
   5. Entrants must be available for rehearsal 9.00am on Saturday 1st June with dress rehearsal at 2.00pm and photographs and performance Sunday 2nd June 2013.
Judging will take place at the dress rehearsal on Sat 1st June 2013 at The Oamaru Opera House. The full show and awards will be on Sunday 2nd June 2013
   6. The judging panel will consist of three (3) Judges.
   7. Winners will be notified at the conclusion of the Fashion Show on Sunday 2nd June and awarded certificates and prizes.
   8. The decision of the judging panel will be final. No discussion will be entered into.
   9. All media recorded of the event by Steampunk NZ Ltd is the intellectual property of Steampunk NZ Ltd to be used at the discretion of Steampunk NZ Ltd.
  10. Category winners and the Supreme Winner are required to exhibit their creations at the 2013 Steampunk exhibition to be held in Oamaru from November 2013.

Judging criteria for the garments entered into the Steampunk Fashion Show.

15th April 2013: each designer must have registered and paid their registration.

Saturday 1st June 2013: 
9.00am Registration
9.30am Introductions and warm ups
10.00am blocking rehearsal commences.
12.00 lunch and prepare for dress rehearsal
2.00pm dress rehearsal commences
5.00pm +/- finish

Sunday 2nd June 2013: 
9.30am refresh rehearsal
11.00 prepare for performance
1.00 pm lunch
2.00 pm performance
5.00 pm Award winners photoshoot on stage.

The purpose of this Fashion Show is to take the fashion of Steampunk beyond ornamentation and accessorising. As well as the drawing designs, the character wearing the garment must be developed. The garments will be based on the Victorian genre: they will have a functional science fiction component. The characters wearing them must have a story behind them and wear their clothes for good reason. This is about developing Victorian Science Fiction and deepening the Steampunk genre.

Your concept will cover:

Design portfolio describing the development of the construction of the garment of no more than 2 A4 sides.

Answer the questions below to assist your entry, taking up no more than 2 sides of A4 paper

The name of the character wearing the garment.

The background of the character

The role of the character:

Where does the character wear the garment?

Why does the character wear the garment?

How do they wear it?

How does the character use the functions of the garments?

Audience story

A summary of the character and his/her/it's context in the steampunk world to be read during the character's time on stage - a limit of 60 secs.There is audience choice winner this year.

Judges marking schedule:

Conceptual design/overall look 50%

Quality of finished garment 20%

Science Fiction component 30%

Marks will be awarded for the concept, construction and potential of the Science Fictional functions whether or not they actually work.

There will be an audience choice winner as well as a winner and runner up for each category. (subject to change)
