OpShop Hunting
with The Gadgetorium’s Merchant Lucretia.
Venue: Meet at Oamaru i-Site at 10am (corner Itchen & Thames St.)
Led by the fabulous Merchant Lucretia and Lady Kassandra, you will hit Oamaru's favourite op shops, with a break for lunch/afternoon tea and a purchase "show off". Steampunk attire is encouraged, with comfy-ish shoes. Great event for newbies, with everyone welcome. No charge, just plan to buy your lunch and maybe a cuppa. PM Merchant Lucretia or RSVP here

Venue: Criterion Hotel
Informal social evening for the early birds to catch up and chat before the Festival gets its full steam on. First-time festival-goers and first-time Steampunks, take this early opportunity to meet some great people and find your feet at the Festival.

Show off your style as you explore Oamaru. See “Sprocket and Gear: Elements of Steampunk” at the Forrester Gallery, visit the mini-museum at Oamaru Heritage Radio, admire the splendid Victorian architecture in the Victorian Precinct and around Thames Street, check out Steampunk HQ. Oamaru i-Site is at corner of Thames & Itchen.

Book Launch "How to Steampunk for Middlings"
Venue: Pen-y-bryn Lodge, 41 Towey St.
Isla Mendit's much-anticipated second volume, launched in elegant surroundings. A sumptuous afternoon tea will be served.

Workshop: Steampunk your Nerf Gun
Venue: Criterion Hotel, 3 Tyne St.
Get ready for a hands-on session steampunking a Nerf Gun to reflect your Steampunk persona. All materials are included in the $12 workshop fee, including the Nerf Gun, but you are also welcome to bring anything you’d like to recycle into the gun. Offered by

Oamaru Fire and Steam
Venue: Harbour St
A family street event with fire and light, live music, street entertainers, and food stalls. Also includes “Up the Rabbit-hole Mad Hatter’s Teapunk Party” at the Grainstore Gallery 6:30 followed by Magical Masquerade Street Parade, Steampunks join in! $5; children free.

Friday Night After Party, Vaudeville Steampunk Style.
Venue: Loan and Merc, 14 Harbour St
The After Party - a fabulous vaudeville-styled show for Steampunks by Steampunks, lead by NZ's favourite Steampunk Comedienne, Jackie Clarke. This year's line up will be sharp, dynamic and wonderfully entertaining, and afterwards it will be time to dance and "After Party" til late. R18

Irishman’s Rally
Venue: Victorian Precinct.
An eclectic collection of vintage cars. Assembling 8am for 8:30 departure heading south to Kakanui and beyond.

Steampunk Parade
Venue: Harbour Street ending at Wansbeck St/Friendly Bay.
Bring your most splendid Steampunk style to parade along Harbour Street. Victorians are also invited to show off their most elegant streetwear. Everyone welcome. Assemble on railway side behind The Collective.

A treasure trove of clothing, artwork and lamps, goggles and accessories, curiosities, bits and bobs. Face painting. Live music with Merchant Lucretia from 10:00-2pm (break for Tea Duelling).

Tintype Photographer
Venue: Grainstore Passage, 9 Harbour St.
Purchase a unique souvenir of the Festival Weekend. Brian and Jane use original bellows cameras to create your very own handmade tintype photograph using the wet-plate collodion process.

Get into biscuit-dunking mode, and prepare for a grand dunk-off!

Children’s Workshop: Steampunk Goggle Making
Venue: 20 Ribble Street, Oamaru
Led by Isla Mendit (aka Michelle Webb) this workshop offers an opportunity for younger and aspiring Steampunks to join in the fun! Learn to make goggles, and then show off the finished product around town. All materials are provided.

Dilmah Steampunk NZ Teapot Racing
Venue: Oamaru Club Inc, 32 Severn St.
This year, the Teapot racing steps up a gear... with a completely new set of unique obstacles to provide even more racing excitement for both Drivers and Audience.
We have changed the standard rules slightly to provide an action packed two hours, and have improved seating to help ensure everyone has a good view of the racing.

Steampunk Belly Dance Workshop
Venue: Oamaru Club Inc, 32 Severn St.
Learn core technique and belly dance movements, then sample some of the Steampunk inspired combos used in our favourite Steampunk choreography to date.

League of Victorian Imagineers Mess Dinner and return of Airship Racing.
Venue: Loan & Merc Function Room, 14 Harbour Street.
Regions, gather your gamers. Each team will comprise a champion - the challenger making the speech, - pit crew, and a pilot. Traditional fixed-line dirigibles will be the primary means of competition. Teams will compete for the LVI Airship Racing Trophy to be awarded at the end of the evening.

Enjoy a morning coffee, then parade your style along Thames Street as you return to Harbour Street to participate in Parasol Duelling, perhaps Awesome Monsterpot Racing, or find some treasures at the Steampunk Festival Market.

First, a Parasol Dueling Demonstration by members of the Dragons Lair, West Otago
Steampunk. Then we will explain the rules and open up for all to compete. Prizes will be awarded.

World Movie Premiere plus Steampunk Magic Show
Venue: Oamaru Opera House, Inkbox, 90 Thames Street.
Be the first to see the new Steampunk animated short film “Della Mortika: Carousel of Shame” (about 20 minutes), plus meet the filmmaker with Q&A, followed by The Great Wardini.

Steampunk NZ Moments In Time Fashion Show: A series of tiny theatre pieces.
Venue: Oamaru Opera House, 90 Thames Street.
These 90 second episodes depict a character in its own steampunk world, complete with costume and props. The best moments win.
